Fundamental Characteristics of the Knowledge Revolution

"Knowledge-based growth will mean that those workers, particularly in advanced economies but eventually worldwide, with low and medium skills will become less important to economic prosperity."

Five Broad Trends in the Global Economy

"One of the major effects of the shift toward a service-dominated economy has been a dramatic "upskilling" of job requirements. "

Globalization and the New Knowledge-Based Economy

"The subject of globalization is one that has recently prompted a huge amount of debate, and spawned protectionist movements from labor unions and politicians alike throughout the United States and the OECD member states."

The Rise of Non-National Organizations

"New regional agreements on tariff reductions, combined with growing market saturation for consumer goods domestically, have driven many companies toward global extension."

Information and Knowledge Theories

"Unlike traditional goods production in the past, knowledge-based growth inherently creates obsolescence of other goods and previous knowledge."

Research and Development in the Global, Knowledge-Based Economy

"There is a huge difference between developing technologies that can meet (or create) a demand in the market and exploring fundamental scientific questions."

Characteristics of the New World Organization

"Organizations are either becoming larger and more global or smaller and more domestic."

Defining Knowledge Management

"Finding agreement on the boundaries of the term knowledge management has been one of the reasons that the entire knowledge movement has had such teething problems over the past three years."

Knowledge-Based Process Planning

"Identifying knowledge requirements, mapping the probable sources of that knowledge, both internal and external to the company, and then matching the two up is a difficult but extraordinarily rewarding form of process improvement."

The Knowledge-Based Economy and Social Trends

"For the first time in history it is no longer a question of just the haves and the have nots; now it is a question of the cans and the can nots."

Knowledge-Based Nations

"Can a country really transform itself into a knowledge-based economy?"
